Quick Updates

1. My son, Cojie not only passed his nursery exam but was deemed eligible for Kindergarten. Apparently in the under-four-feet-tall world, that’s a big deal. He will either be a rocket scientist or a Starstruck finalist.

2. I am doing something nowadays that is totally annoying my friends but I’m actually enjoying it. I’m calorie-counting. I found this website, www.calorie-counter.com , and it’s like an online nutritionist for free. It will tell you how much calories you have to consume in a day to reach your goal weight by a certain plausible date. (Apparently, losing 10 lbs. in four weeks is ridiculous.) I need to consume 1,400 calories per day to hit my goal weight by July. I’ve survived five days so far and it’s been fun. I’ve had some ice cream and some fries in those days so it ain’t so bad. Hope this works. If it does, I’m running to the nearest photo booth and uploading the picture here.

(Sidebar: I used to love peanuts so much, only to discover that wolfing down a whole bag of Growers will yield 450 calories. Four hundred and fifty damn calories. That’s a whole rice-and-ulam meal already.)

3. Remember that novel I’ve been trying to write? I had a brilliant idea for it. I can’t tell you but it’s brilliant. At least I think it’s brilliant.

4. I’m writing short stories, too. Maybe I’ll post one of them here next time.

5. My latest crush-of-the-month is Bradley Whitford. He’s old and he’s balding but he’s gorgeous. Look him up.

6. No boyfriend still. I guess you all saw that coming.

7. Another thing on my son: he can’t write or add numbers but he can get to level three of Tumblebugs. I worry about him but I’m also proud of him. He can also turn on and turn off our PC without supervision. (O-ha!)

8. Song that’s playing in my head all the time: Wind It Up by Gwen Stefani. How one can turn "The Lonely Goatherd" into a danceable pop song is beyond me.

9. Last DVD purchase: The West Wing because of item #5. Can’t understand it.

10. Last book purchase: Rachel Gibson’s "Sex, Lies and Online Dating". I never learn…
